A robot that looks like a human being even to the extent having life-like characteristics such as a skin-like surface, human-style hair, etcetera.
Some well known androids in the history of science fiction include R Daneel Olivaw from the pen of Isaac Asimov and the various incarnations of the terminator machines in the Terminator franchise.
