The Twelfth Doctor had Clara Oswald with him as they arrive in Victorian London. Clara does not travel regularly with the Doctor - he has instead arranged for her to get a job as an English teacher at Coalhill Secondary School bringing the series round to it's beginning.
While there, Clara met Danny Pink who taught Maths and was the commander of the school cadet squadron. Danny had been a soldier and as we make our way through the Season 8 stories the tension between Clara's growing involvement with Danny and her excitement of travelling with the Doctor involves the two men having problems with each other, never mind the dislike Danny has of anyone who is an Officer and the Doctor's disapproval of the military
