Brian Aldiss

(Born 1925, died 2009)

He served in the far east during the war in the Royal Signals and went on to work as an assistant in Oxford bookshops. These experiences became the background to his first published fiction in the 1950s.

He started writing Science Fiction in 1954.Non-Stop was his first published novel and remains one of the classic examples of the lost Generation Ship sub genre. His best known series is probably the Helliconia trilogy. He also co-authored A Trillion Year Spree which won awards for its overview of the SF field.
