The Peshawar Lancers

2002

Its 2025 and all would appear well on the Raj's North West frontier as the Peshawar Lancers make their way back to barracks after teaching the Afghani tribesmen to stay on their side of the border. Captain King had suffered a wound sufficient to get him and his batman sent home on recuperative leave.

It's on the trip home that he began to realise that his life was about to become so much more complex. Safely aboard the train taking them home, the two soldiers relax for the first time in months. However, this proves to be a bit premature for as the train steamed through the central regions of the Raj, their sleep was rudely interrupted by an Afghani tribesman clambering through the window.

After a violent battle the Afghani was subdued and questioned as to his motives for the attack.

It seemed that there was a stranger going round the tribes promising much gold for the death of the Anglezi gentleman. As a soldier Athelstane is prepared to accept the risk but when he finds out some one had been throwing bombs at his sister he goes under cover in order to find out who is behind such ignoble acts only to find himself caught up in a conspiracy that crossed generations.
