There has been A Happy Event in the kingdom of Lancre.

Queen Magrat has had a Royal Heir and to celebrate all the local nobi... er, population were invited to the ceremony. Along with a travelling preacher from the land of Omm. And a Duke and Duchess from Uberwald whose prefered mode of transport during the day is a black coach.

Once in the kingdom, these disparate elements meet and mix in an attempt to change the nature of Lancre to a darker and strange future.

The normal inhabitants are fairly easily brought under the sway of the Vampires - after all, they have had centuries of dominating their own peasantry.

But, what they had not taken account of, not properly, were the Witches. Particularly Granny Weatherwax even though they thought they had done their research.
