This is the name given to the method of instantaneous transportation found in Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination though this was a purely mental technique. Those employing this method had to know their destination, either from personal experience or from photographs. Locations were known by intricate and unique sigils that were learnt by teenagers as their powers became active.
It is also the name given to the method employed by the Tomorrow People in the ITV television series of the same name. Although this too required a mental ability, the youngsters able to use this method were aided by advanced technology in order to travel a decent distance.
