The Eyeless

Lance Parkin

2008

This book sees the Doctor Companionless as he leaves Earth, and Donna far behind in an attempt to forget what he had to do to her.

Following the signals that had brought him to the year 292,009 and the green skied planet with the decaying city of Arcopolis. He thought he knew what the signals portended and the state of the city certainly didn't disappoint, but there were soon disturbing indications that he wasn't as alone as perhaps he should have been! When he's confronted by a pack of feral children, he realises the planet was not as dead as he had anticipated. But why were the children so scared of ghosts? And were they connected with the glass people also trying to get to the Fortress that brooded over the heart of the city.

This is a great book that manages to portray the Doctor post-Companion in a really interesting way - without the humanising effect of a companion he makes a series of decisions in a much harder fashion than we are accustomed to
