Loving the Aliens
Mike Tucker and Robert Perry
2003
The Doctor has a dilemma. Directed to a neglected grave by a report in the Daily Inquirer, he finds the report to be true. In this unmarked grave lay the body of a person he knew very well; his current companion, Ace, still currently very much alive but kept well away from this grisly paradox.
Concerned for her survival, the Doctor goes about breaking one of Time's fundamental Laws and takes Ace to Fifties London, where she was to meet her death if he was to do nothing.
Still knowing nothing of her upcoming fate, Ace rebels against the Doctor's overprotective behaviour and strikes out on her own to explore this earlier form of her home city. While she's doing this, the Doctor is busy trying to trace a murder yet to happen.
Meanwhile, the news is filled with reports from British Rocket Group's first manned mission that had just gone so drastically wrong. The Anglo Americans are blaming the Russians, who are busy disclaiming all knowledge of the event. What secret are the military trying to bury in the deserted hospital, and how do those reports of giant ants tie in with the rest?
Will the Doctor succeed in breaking the rules and keep Ace alive? Is some one or something manipulating him? And what is their agenda?
