Legends

This is a collection of eleven novella length fantasy stories. There are also a couple of other versions of this book that have a subset of the short stories, but this version is well worth the slight inconvenience of the size.

The Stephen King story is set early in Roland's Quest.
The Terry Pratchett story takes place in a time frame that is not particularly related to any of the current Discworld books. Granny is asked to give the other Witches a chance in the Summer Festival.
Terry Goodkind's story tells of the time when the boundary between the lands is first set up.
The Orson Scott Card story tells of an incident in the adult Alvin's life.
Robert Silverberg's story of Majipoor tells of a murder investigation carried out by the Pontifex Valentine.
Ursula K Le Guin's story of Earthsea is the story of the first girl to venture the wards of the School of Wizardry on Roke. Dragonfly had been given a name by a Witch, but it wasn't a full name and not even the Master Namer on Roke could encompass her true nature.
Tad William's story takes place many centuries after the start of his trilogy.
George RR Martin's story of chivalry takes place about a hundred years before the events in his multi volume epic.
Anne McCaffrey's Runner of Pern is set in the final few turns before Thread returns to Pern to upset the established power structures.
Raymond E Feist's story tells the tale of a young boy whose life is turned upside down when his Lord's demense was occupied by the Tsurani invaders.
Robert Jordan's story tells the story of three of the pivotal characters from his massive epic. Moiraine and Siuan are newly minted Aes Saedi but they have learnt that the Dragon Reborn has been, uh, born. After the death of the Amerilyn Seat under extremely suspicious circumstances they take on the task of tracking him down. Up in the Borderlands, Moiraine meets the man who is destined to be her Warder and another's lover.
