Gary was born in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England and was a child actor having major roles in a BBC adaption of 'The Phoenix and the Carpet' and ITV's adaptions of Enid Blyton's Famous Five books where he played Dick.
He was a producer with Big Finish from 1989 to 2006 when he stepped down to work on the BBC's Doctor Who and Torchwood. He has also been an editor for Doctor Who Magazine between 1992 and 1995.
