Leigh Brackett

(Born 1915, died 1978)

She started her publishing career, and a life-long fascination with Mars-as-it-should-have-been, in 1940. The style of story, as represented in The Coming of the Terrans, is typical of her work.

She also did a number of screen scenarios in a similar fashion. A screen treatment of The Empire Strikes Back (1979), though not typical of her work in any form, gained her a posthumous Hugo and screen credit.
